The intent of this petition is to open a dialogue between the NSA and Citizen Privacy Advocates like the EFF, adversarial groups by nature. This petition makes two simple suggestions:
1) Panel Discussion - A moderated discussion between representatives from the Intelligence Community and advocate groups like the EFF to address Privacy and Security concerns from both sides. (See http://youtu.be/1OLz6uUuMp8 for an example).
2) OpenSource Security - Establish an independent team of experts from the public privacy and security fields (nominated by industry peers) to work with the NSA in an effort to evaluate surveillance protocols and ensure that the NSA acts honorably with their vast responsibilities.
The NSA can work with the Public oversight without compromising their need for Security.
