Upon threats of terrorist violence surrounding the opening of the satirical film "The Interview," many theater chains declined to book the film or cancelled previously scheduled bookings, leading to the cancellation of the release by Sony Pictures. While the safety of their patrons is a legitimate concern, this is a body blow to the principle of freedom of expression, and must not be tolerated. We petition the Obama Administration to host a showing of this film in order to demonstrate American commitment to free expression, in light of the fact that they have at their disposal protection resources unavailable to the theaters at large.
