Detroit is spending millions to destroy empty homes; whereas cities like San Francisco are spending millions to house the homeless.
Wouldn't it be better that - instead of spending money to destroy homes in one part of the country while creating shelters in another part; we create incentives to fill those empty houses?
We can ask municipalities to donate part of their existing homeless support budget to help house the homeless in Detroit's empty houses. Another benefit is that due to the economy of scale; we can create more work programs and training for the new residents.
