How can the SBA charge interest on a Katrina Disaster Loan. I also have several other questions about this loan.

Created by M.A. on February 20, 2014

I am asking how SBA can charge interest on a disaster loan. Also how they can have a lien on my property. I was told by the rep when I applied that this was a signature loan. That if either one of us passed that the loan would be forgiven. My husband passed and I am still paying the loan. That there would be no interest. I was also told that the loan would be forgiven after 5 years. I am regretting ever applying for this but FEMA would not assist until I applied. I wish now that I would not have qualified. Anyone that got money from FEMA did not have to pay it back. Any assistance in this matter would be appreciated. I am sure that I am not the only one that has questions on this matter. The whole Gulf Coast was affected by Katrina.
