That H.R. 6407 (109th): Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act be repelled in order to save the USPS.

Created by M.C. on January 15, 2013

In 2006 the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (H.R. 6407 (109th)) was passed. Under PAEA, USPS was forced to “prefund its future health care benefit payments to retirees for the next 75 years in an astonishing ten-year time span” — meaning that it had to put aside billions of dollars to pay for the health benefits of employees it hasn’t even hired yet, something “that no other government or private corporation is required to do.” The United States Post Office is an essential institution in the United States that has served its people since 1775 and should be able to continue as such.
