Pakistani's Living abroad received a huge shock when they dialled their loved ones in Pakistan. International Calls rates which used to be charged at $0.04~(Rs.3) per minute previously, changed to $0.14~(Rs.13). Whereas, in comparison calls made to other countries i.e. China, India and Bangladesh cost even less than $0.02 per minute. Government claimed that by charging overseas Pakistanis at a higher rate will enable them to bring extra revenue in Pakistan. However, what they failed to explain was the reality of the situation. Actually, this is to benefit foreign owned LDI companies and their investors which would result in outflow of billions of dollars from Pakistan destroying Pakistan's precious foreign reserves and reducing the amount of Remittance overseas Pakistanis.
