The abuses range from mass killings, enforced disappearances, torture, rape and sexual abuse to political repression and suppression of freedom of speech. More than 40 days of clashes between protesters and security forces have overwhelmed the main hospital in India-held Kashmir, where some patients with severe injuries said they had been beaten in their homes by troops.A strict curfew and a series of communication blackouts have failed to stop six weeks of protests, even as residents have struggled to cope with shortages of food, medicine and other necessities.
