Humanize the daily toll of gun violence in the US by reading the names of all shooting victims at WH press briefings.

Created by J.L. on October 03, 2015

The daily toll of gun violence in the US is horrific with an average of 272 people shot each and every day. That adds up to more than 8,000 each month and more than 100,000 each year.

Statisticians project that we will each be personally impacted by 5 shootings in our lifetimes.

For one month, we urge the White House to start each daily briefing with the name, age and city of those who have been shot in the previous 24 hours. Not just those killed; that represents less than a third of those impacted by gun violence; list every person shot. Let the enormity reveal itself in the daily toll.

At 5 seconds per name, this will take an estimated 23 minutes each day.

The goal is simple; to humanize the dreadful toll gun violence takes on us each and every day.
