People recently have been asking the country to do away with the electoral college because it doesn't serve the will of the people. The issue is we need the electoral college to protect us from charismatic men who could sway the American people but had the potential to be a threat to the Country. We already have a system in place in Maine and Nebraska which doesnt support the winner takes all method, this is called the congressional method and allows the popular vote in each of the states congressional districts to receive a vote and the popular vote winner receives 2 additional votes. Virginia also proposed a similiar version in 2013 but instead of the 2 votes being based on popular votes they were based on the electorate vote in the state. These systems would mean YOUR vote would COUNT!
