I want to petition the Obama Administration to make it mandatory for all states to amend their recidivism laws

Created by B.L. on November 09, 2012

Ex-felons have an extremely hard time once released from the penial system. They face extreme challenges in find employment, housing, restoration of voting rights and driving priviledges. Currently, prisoners who may have good driving records lose their drivers license while locked up because they can't pay their court fines within 30 days. If you are a prisoner serving time, you are unemployed so as a result DMW strips you of your license. In addition, penalities and interest pile up on those court fees. There need to be amendment to the laws because once parols, in order to find a job ex-felons need transportation to find a job. Without an drivers license this is inpossible. Ex-felons need a better second chance from society, local, state and federal government that they have now.
