We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

ICANN must stay protected!

Created by P.H. on August 30, 2016

The internet as a whole, due to the protection afforded by the contract ICANN has with the US Government, shares the freedom of speech all Americans share. A transfer of that contract would end that protection. America is the only country in the world where speech is not limited in any way, where as in places like Germany and the UK, or worse, Iran and China, certain speech is restricted and can be punished by fine or imprisonment. Giving up the contract with ICANN can cause similar restrictions to speech on the web, and MUST NOT go through. This petition is to demand that Congress puts the transfer of the ICANN contact to a vote with the idea of freedom of speech in mind.
