Seeing as how the right to self-medicate seems to be something the government is unwilling to grant us, it's citizens, then I propose the repeal of all laws allowing the sale and purchase of alcohol and tobacco.
This comes in response to the recently polled statistics that show 3% Congressional support, in contrast to 52% public support, for the legalization and regulation of marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes.
The posted government response to petitions concerning marijuana legalization is dismissive and condescending. Every argument made for the illegality of marijuana can also be made(even more so) for alcohol. Yes, there are inherent risks involved with any kind of drug usage, but to deny the public the right of choice in favor of arguably worse alternatives is unjust.
