On July 5, 2016 FBI director Comey acknowledged Hillary Clinton violated 18 U.S.C. s.793 but stated no reasonable prosecutor would bring such charges. He claimed no other citizens had been charged in cases in which no intent was found on the part of the accused. However, Bryan Nishimura was charged with such a crime and it was acknowledged no evidence of intent was discovered. Director Comey went on to warn that if others acted in a similar fashion in the future they too risked their liberty. Because it is self evident that all citizens must be treated equally, this law must be repealed and those convicted thereunder should be pardoned.
