Many children that get physically abused cannot prove it, because some abusers are careful to not leave (obvious) marks. If it cannot be proven, the abuser cannot be arrested right away without a warrant. If the abuse happens at home or close to home, the student may have to find another place to live for the time being which can hurt their attendance and academic performance in school. This petition helps aid a student by giving them time.
If a student claims (physical) abuse at home or close to home, and has at least called the police (and has gotten a signature from the police that came), the student may be forgiven for up to 5 days of absense in a row from school to both mentally recover and to possibly find a different place to live.
