Ignore the emotional liberals that want to disregard the electoral college because it didn't benefit them.

The electoral college has worked for centuries in keeping all parts of the US happy-both rural and urban. Abandoning this will cause politicians to cater to only populated cities.
There are many foreign, sovereign states that use the popular vote, and in those states we see major differences in the development between the rural and urban areas. We want to stay a country where all cities and states matter.
