Gay conversion therapy is an aversion therapy that aims to change one's sexual orientation through, most commonly, the use of negative/painful stimuli, such as electric shocks, and pairing that with homo-erotic imagery. It has been condemned by not only the APA, but the international community as a barbaric and torturous process. Widely regarded as pseudoscience, the one study that suggests any success in this process, performed by Robert Spitzer, not only had a small sample size of 200 subjects, but was later renounced by Spitzer himself. These practices can lead to increased rates of suicide among those who take part in the programs, and many are forced into these programs by their legal guardians. Let's put a stop to this torture.
