Many animal shelters/pounds automatically euthanize perfectly healthy cats, kittens, dogs and puppies simply at the "owner's" or person's request who is surrendering the animal to the shelter. These animals are needlessly killed when they could be adopted or rescued. Some of the frivolous reasons these owners have given for "put to sleep" requests include: "My new apartment doesn't allow pets;" "I can't take care of my pet anymore and can't stand the thought of someone else having it;" and, "My mother/father is going into a nursing home and they want the cat/dog put down so they don't have to worry about where it is." A healthy animal should never be euthanized unless it's proven by professionals to be vicious beyond recovery. Please sign this petition to save precious animal lives.
