An immediate and binding national referendum on control

Created by J.Y. on December 18, 2012

I have come to realize that the issue of gun control is far to important to leave in the hands of our elected officials to debate infinitum, and that “We the People” need to become the driving force in requiring legislation on gun control. That is why I propose a national binding referendum on gun control. There are 4 points that should be considered:

1. All provisions of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban will immediately become law and shall NEVER again be allowed to lapse.
2. The provision in the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban regarding 'large capacity ammunition feeding devices' will be changed from 10 to 7.
3. The list nineteen firearms defined as 'assault weapons' will be revisited and updated.
4. The purchase of any and all firearms will require a background check and waiting period.
