Immediate Extension of Federal Unemployment Benefits Before Expiration on December 29th, affecting millions of Americans

Created by K.B. on December 13, 2012

Please act immediately to extend federal unemployment benefits before they expire on 12/29, leaving millions of Americans without any source of income. The election of 2012 revealed that the majority of Americans support safety nets such as unemployment insurance, Social Security, and Medicare. Despite top corporations boasting record profits, the unemployment rate is still 7.7% but most likely twice as high since many of the unemployed are no longer receiving benefits. To avoid further economic decline, benefits must be provided until the job creation/unemployment rate has risen to a more robust level.
