Currently over 150 Assyrian Christians (a.k.a. Syriacs, Arameans and Chaldeans) are being held hostage by the Islamic State (a.k.a. ISIL or ISIS), and threatened with being raped, sold into slavery or executed. Additionally, hundreds of thousands more in Syria and Iraq are displaced internally because of the savagery these butchers impose. Sadly, with the situation progressively getting worse in recent months, many of their victims now even struggle to find adequate food and shelter.
Along with other ethno-religious minorities in the region, Assyrians are presently left stranded without adequate protection. That is why, as former President Clinton said after the Rwandan genocide, "...never again must we be shy in the face of the evidence."
Humanitarian intervention is needed now!
