The goal of this petition is to force the Obama Administration to produce legislation that expands the ability of people to protect themselves with a firearm by prohibiting the designation of "Gun Free Zones" (or other language limiting the ability of people to protect themselves). While a national dialogue is critical, immediate access to firearms for those in the most dire crisis is critical to preventing homicide.
Powerful lobbying groups seek to continue firearm prohibition in violation of the Constitution's intended purpose of the right to bear arms -- as a means of self-defense.
