We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Immediately address the issue of gun control by introducing legislation in Congress

Created by M.S. on June 12, 2016

The goal of this petition is to demand that the Obama Administration work with Congress to produce legislation that limits access to guns.

The worst shootings in US history have had one thing in common: the use of assault weapons. Weapons of war have no place in civilian life and reach far beyond the Constitution’s intended purpose of the right to bear arms. Congress must act in a bipartisan manner to restrict gun ownership and pay special attention to those who have previously abused a partner.

Executive orders can only go so far. The signatures on this petition represent a collective demand for a bipartisan discussion resulting in a set of laws that regulate how a citizen obtains a gun.
