Immediately and expeditiously begin negotiations with a newly independent United Kingdom on a Free Trade Agrreement.

The United Kingdom have voted in a free, fair election to invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty governing the countries that comprise the European Union. Barring a few minor disagreements dating back nearly 240 years, the United Kingdom and the United States share a unique and colorful history that has bound our two countries together in the defense of freedom and democracy worldwide. Our most ardent international ally is now at a crossroads. Having democratically agreed to sever ties with its largest trading partner, the United States should stand ready to begin negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement immediately. Our two countries cultural, linguistic, democratic, and economic similarities would allow such a deal to be completed in record time with extraordinary benefits to both sides.
