Currently there are several states that are openly teaching "creationist doctrine" in public schools. This is a clear violation of the separation of church and state. Publicly funded institutions have an obligation to remain secular and the government has a duty to insure that they do.
Public money should not be spent on private beliefs, nor should any child be indoctrinated into a belief system in a public school.
How is this any different than what they do in the middle east in the case of "sharia law"? How is it the U.S. can look down upon that kind of indoctrination but turn a blind eye when it occurs in our own country?
The federal government should remove funding or fine tax payer supported institutions that would teach ANY form of religious doctrine under the guise of education.
