In 2010 the IMF proposed global reforms that would promote equality through several measures including a reduction of voting power for the US, eliminating the US power to unilaterally VETO anything, and an increase in voting power to other top world economies and other emerging markets.
These reforms were agreed to by the US but as of today they have not been enacted or honored seriously impugning the reputation of the USA.

The world is now working to create a new system that would detour the current system and all of her power and if left unchecked could lead to an epic level economic catastrophe.
