immediately end federal assistance with the militarization of domestic law enforcement especially DOD Program 1033

Since the September 11 attacks American law enforcement has seen a dramatic increase in the military grade weapons, technology, and equipment at their disposal. Through Homeland Security and the DoD domestic law enforcement has seen billions of dollars of equipment released to them and aid in funding the acquisition of advanced weapons of war. Many American police departments now have become paramilitary in nature and have been treating their fellow citizens as enemy combatants. The ability to acquire weapons, vehicles, equipment, and technology used in war needs to stop. It needs to stop now. Mr. President the streets of America are not the slopes of the Pech River Valley in Afghanistan. I urge you to immediately push to end the militarization of American police forces and suspend 1033.
