A disturbing trend of warrantless surveillance of American citizens on American soil has become a part of the so-called "war on terror." The revelation that the National Security Agency has secretly been collecting phone records for millions of Verizon customers is but the latest example of this agency's utter disregard for due process and the Fourth Amendment.
We, the undersigned, feel strongly that the NSA's pattern of activity is outrageous, unconstitutional, and absolutely incompatible with the requirements of a free and democratic society.
We demand and immediate end to all warrantless surveillance by the government, including the collection of aggregate data, and a return to due process as outlined by the Constitution.
