Dear Mr. President,
Lakota Children's Enrichment urges you to exempt American Indian communities from sequestration.
Before the sequester, Native American children faced poverty, disadvantage and obstacles not faced by others in America. Compounding the barriers for struggling families is neither fair nor humane.
Your June 26 Presidential Order acknowledges that our nation needs to do better, and set a national policy of improving conditions for American Indian communities. It is impossible to reconcile that policy with what is occurring right now.
We, the People, demand that Indian Country be exempted from sequestration immediately.
