The citizens of Syria are caught between two warring factions in a civil war. Any escalation in military force, including US intervention, will increase the collateral damage, that is, the slaughter of innocent people. The US government should publicly announce that any Syrian who requests refugee status will immediately receive it and will be granted temporary entry into the US for the duration of the Syrian Civil War. The president should also call upon all other countries to grant refugee status to all Syrians and grant them entry into their countries for the duration of the Syrian Civil War.
