Immediately place a hold on Pentagon program 1033 which arms civilian police with military grade weapons and vehicles.

In light of the publicizing of many police abuses of authority and unwarranted violence towards American citizens, particularly minorities, we request that the Pentagon program 1033 be suspended. Program 1033 is the program that the pentagon uses to sell military grade arms and equipment to civilian police forces. As demonstrated recently in Ferguson and several other areas of the country, when the police obtain new equipment, they look for reasons to use it whether warranted or not. This has been demonstrated time and again. We therefore petition the government of the United States of America, a free Republic, to protect her citizens against the abuse of power facilitated by the use of military grade equipment by local police forces.
