The current outbreak of violence in Israel and Palestine is endangering the lives of many innocent and peaceful Palestinians, Israelis and Americans. As usual, it is hard to tell who started what, so both sides need to be pressured to end the violence. The conflict in this area needs to end and that can only be done through peaceful negotiations. The United States needs to use its position as "friend of Israel" to help ensure that all people in these lands, not just Israelis, have basic human rights and are not being oppressed and victimized. We have a unique opportunity to put pressure on both sides to end the violence and to come to a peaceful solution. We ask that President Obama use his influence immediately to demand a ceasefire to protect the the innocent people living in this area.
