According to a notice that was sent to congressional offices, the White House has made the following statement regarding public tours of the White House:
"Due to staffing reductions resulting from sequestration, we regret to inform you that White House Tours will be canceled effective Saturday, March 9, 2013 until further notice."
We call on President Barack Obama and the White House to reevaluate their position on this action and to call off the cancellation of public tours of the White House.
The White House belongs to the people of the United States of America and the cancellation of public tours is nothing more than political gesturing.
