Jerusalem, the historical capital of the Jewish people for 3000 years, has been the official and legal capital of the State of Israel since its inception in 1948. The position of the US government to suspend this recognition on the basis of future negotiations and status is unacceptable. Every state has the right to define its own capital. To deny this is an affront to the state and reality. The US government must immediately recognize Jerusalem as the legal capital of the State of Israel and move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
