Schedule 1 of the drug schedules has the following definition:
1) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
2) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
3) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.
Marijuana (cannabis) is less addictive than caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Entire states have recognized the medicinal benefits. There are no known deaths resulting from overdose or withdrawal symptoms.
Hemp is also an important industrial crop.
Marijuana has been purposefully misclassified, and the executive branch through the DEA has the power to reclassify it. Obama has stated that he will act without congress. Here is his chance to prove it.
