We hereby petition for the immediate suspension and review of the USA Patriot Act (H.R.514) and any extensions thereof for violation of the first and fourth amendments of the United States Constitution.
(1) on the grounds that anonymity is a form of free speech, and fear of surveillance stifles lawful dissent.
(4) on the grounds that the vast swath of data being collected is not protected by probable cause, nor does it allow for the particular description of the place or the persons affected.
Patrick Henry said it best, “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I knownot what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”
