Recognizing that our nation continues to experience intolerable and extreme levels of violence involving firearms, we, the undersigned, echo the call for new, strict reforms on the purchase and ownership of firearms.
We further demand that any new firearms control legislation must include regulation of the amount and type of ammunition that private citizens are legally allowed to purchase and own.
Our rational includes recognition that hundreds of millions of firearms are already privately held and that seizure of those is not feasible or morally justified.
Therefore, regulation of ammunition is a necessary part of significantly reducing our nation's firearm violence epidemic. Thus, we demand that congress immediately take up gun control legislation including ammunition regulation.
