This petition encourages President Obama to break the congressional stalemate by using a recess appointment to designate a director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It is felt that this position, which has gone unfilled for six years, is vital to solving the problem of the availability of assault rifles and multi-round magazines.
