President Obama recognizes that many immigrants live in the shadows. Perhaps we could consider such living as internal exile. Immigrants have little rights, can make no contracts, can't vote, and are basically stuck in neutral. So, why not consider that their time in the shadows be credited in a manner similar to criminals who are credited with time served while awaiting trial at their sentencing hearings? In other words, they already are in the required waiting period for legalization. Lets call on President Obama to issue an Executive Order declaring that immigrants be considered as already having been at the back of the list and having completed that requirement toward their path toward citizenship.
