John Boehner acted unilaterally and hired a private lawyer to defend the DOMA in federal courts. He circumvented all precedent and pursued an act that the Department of Justice decided was unconstitutional.
In these times of austerity he let other issues such as the sequester fail and instead decided to divert federal funds to defend this act.
His actions were not in the best interest of the United States of America nor in the best interest of the citizens of our country. He used his position of power to pursue personal ideologies to the detriment of the rest of the country.
