The Constitution states that the Senate is to "advise and consent" a nomination for the Supreme Court. That they will ignore their Constitutional responsibility to play partisan politics is a dereliction of their duty as a US Senator and a blatant abuse of the power of their positions.
That by holding hearings for Merrick Garland they are advising and a vote in either consent or relent of the nomination.
