The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was required by law to implement a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS 111) to improve rear visibility in vehicles during reversing, in order to avoid and prevent collisions with pedestrians. They have not met the required deadline for this law. The White House should direct the NHTSA to comply with the law and begin requiring all new vehicles to implement the required safety measures.
