Implement the abolishment of capital punishment to be instead replaced by life imprisonment without parole.

Created by S.L. on September 24, 2011

Capital punishment (death penalty) still exists by statute in many of the 50 states. It should be abolished in all of the 50 states and instead replaced with life imprisonment without the possibility of parole as the harshest possible punishment. First, because capital punishment is irreversible. Once carried out it cannot be undone. Second, because use of capital punishment enables criminals to escape from what they have done through death. Third, because it is more expensive to execute someone than to imprison them for life. On moral and practical grounds, we should eliminate capital punishment in all forms. We are obligated to do so to maintain our own affirmation of rights and liberties.
