Too often the military asks for more of one system or less of another, to close one base or keep another open, only to be thwarted by congress putting the jobs in THEIR districts ahead of the defense of the nation as a whole.
Congress is there to represent their electorate and, to an extent, keeping jobs in those districts is part of that job, but when it directly conflicts with the saftey of the nation as a whole it becomes treasonous.
I am not advocating punishing members of Congress or impugning their patriotism, I just ask that they put the good of the nation, and therefore the military as a WHOLE, before the good of their districts.
If you sign this petition you are asking the President to sign ONLY defense budgets based on DoD recommmendations, not Congress's preferences.
