Dear Mr. President,
Many of the recent mass shootings were carried out by individuals who acquired their weapons either by stealing them from law-abiding gun owners or purchasing them from a gun store. We feel that bilateral support could be best achieved if we focus on keeping these weapons out of the hands of those that should not have them, instead of everyone.
Please urge Congress to pass measures that would hold gun owners accountable for insecure handling of their weapons, and require that all firearms be sold with some sort of disabling mechanism or locked storage container. Gun owners should be required to ensure that their weapons are safe, or face stiff consequences when they wind up in the wrong hands. Don't let the actions of few spoil the freedom of all.
