Implement common sense restrictions on dog ownership

Created by J.S. on January 30, 2013

26 Americans are brutally murdered and 4.7 million Americans are bitten by vicious dogs each year. 77% of biting dogs are family pets and according to the Insurance Information Institute, dog bites account for over one-third of all homeowners insurance liability claims, costing nearly $479 million in 2011.

We therefore hold that dogs represent a clear and present danger to our citizens, especially children and elderly.

We should be thinking about our responsibility to care for them and shield them from harm. We can’t put this off any longer. It is time for the White House to implement modest restrictions on dog ownership. This should include restricting assault style dogs and dogs with too many teeth. If there’s even one life that can be saved, then we’ve got an obligation to try.
