implement comprehensive and substantive reform to both the teaching profession and America's public school system

Created by J.B. on January 26, 2013

Currently, talented individuals holding advanced degrees in core subjects but who do not possess a teaching license face numerous obstacles that prohibit them from entering the teaching profession. We believe the Federal Government needs to pressure the States to create streamlined programs that provide such individuals with teaching licenses, regardless of academic subject.

We also believe that the Federal Government and the States should end their reliance on standardized tests as a measure for teacher effectiveness and student progress. These tests stifle educator initiative and force them to "teach to the tests." These exams also foster the memorization of facts rather than valuable critical thinking and problem solving skills.
