In light of the recent gun-related tragedies, appropriate action must be taken to prevent future tragedies of this nature. At the root of these tragedies is the irresponsible gun culture in the USA; the problem is NOT a lack of or too much gun control. The reason for these tragedies is that we are not educated from an early age to respect the deadly nature of firearms. Due to this irresponsible culture, people treat guns irresponsibly and are less likely to realize the full consequences of misusing them. I would like to see a nation-wide education program aimed at instilling the proper level of respect in handling and owning firearms. In addition, demonstration of the proper handling and care of firearms should be required before a firearm can be purchased.
