The crowdsourcing (Kickstarter) business model can be easily amended and used to pay back the deficit. My proposal is simple.
Rather than a tax increase/mandate, the Gov implements a crowdsourcing campaign to illicit donations from the American people to pay back the debt. People hate to be forced into anything, but with proper incentives, I believe Americans would jump at the chance to help. Incentives could include a signed thank you from the POTUS (or favorite politician from either party), and getting into the higher donations, perhaps even dinner with the First Family.
This would be a bipartisan, forward thinking solution, wouldn't alienate anyone by "forcing" them to opt-in, and would give the wealthy who truly want to help a chance to put their money where their mouth is.
