Implement elected officials accountability measures to eliminate standoffs based on party lines and force cooperation

Created by S.C. on December 12, 2012

In order to achieve accountability for our elected officials in both the House and Senate, correlate their eligibility for re-election to reduction of the budget deficit. This involves setting a static goal for deficit reduction (10%, $1 billion, etc) which must be achieved during the entire term for each Senator and Congressman. If the goal is reached during their term, the entire House or Senate is eligible for re-election. If not, the entire House or Senate is not eligible for re-election.

This measure will force cooperation and eliminate standoffs based on party lines. It will also ensure that the tough issues are dealt with expeditiously while achieving the spending controls this country so desperately needs.
