With the U.S. overspending, it is apparent that we need more money in taxes. However, a tax hike will not go over well. The U.S. only brings in 15% of its GDP as taxes, essentially meaning that the overall tax rate for the country is 15%. We are spending at 18%. We need to ensure that we collect at least 18% of GDP in taxes, and imposing a flat tax rate of 19% will give most Americans a tax break, ensure we have enough money to pay for our expenditures, and will help to slowly pay back the national debt.
